Deep Purple was formed in 1968 in England and in a variety of incarnations has released no less than 21 albums, but her heyday was between 1969 and 1973 with several masterpieces and a string of extraordinary hits that include Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Child in Time, Perfect Strangers, Fireball, and others. Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabath, the bands were labeled as the Holy Trinity of British rock and metal in the early 1970s. Throughout its years the band has sold over 100 million albums and has been selected as one of the most influential bands in the history of music in various parades. In 2016 she was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame and at the 2008 World Music Awards she received the Legend Award.
