As the northeast monsoon has been widespread in Tamil Nadu since the onset of the monsoon, the rainfall has been declining in most parts since the beginning of this month. The last one week has been dry in many places. According to the Met Office, a new depression is expected in the Bay of Bengal tomorrow (Friday).
Tamil Nadu is not likely to receive heavy rainfall due to this low lying area. The first 50 km. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas until the 19th of this month.
In addition, due to the northeast monsoon, only one or two places in the southern districts will receive light to moderate rains from today till the 19th. Dry weather is forecast mostly in the northern districts and elsewhere.
