Cricket World Cup

The 13th Cricket World Cup will be held in India in the months of October and November, with 10 teams including India, Australia, current champions England and Pakistan participating. Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Rajkot, Indore Guwahati, Dharamsala have been finalized for the 12 venues. But the match schedule is yet to be announced. However, the tournament is slated to begin on October 5. A total of 48 matches are played.

In this situation, the Indian Cricket Board is planning to renovate at least 5 stadiums before the World Cup. The Indian Cricket Board is the richest cricket organization in the world. IPL And earns thousands of crores from local match telecasts. But the frequent complaints that most of the cricket grounds in the country do not have good basic facilities put the cricket board in a dilemma.

In 5 stadiums…

During the Test match between India and Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi last February, a fan who witnessed the match complained that the toilets were not clean. A similar complaint was made by a fan at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Taking all these into consideration, the Indian Cricket Board has analyzed what facilities should be provided in specific stadiums and estimated the cost. Accordingly 5 stadiums are being renovated. Delhi Stadium gets Rs 100 crore, Hyderabad Rs 117.17 crore, Kolkata Eden Gardens Rs 127.45 crore, Mohali Rs 79.46 crore and Mumbai Wankhede Rs 78.82 crore. The project, which will improve the quality of basic facilities, will not involve paving the roof of the stadium. If the roof needs to be repaired, the cost will increase.

Pakistan games in Chennai?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has consulted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials to decide which venue would be safe for the Pakistan team to play in the World Cup in India. The Pakistan Cricket Board informed that in previous trips to India, Kolkata and Chennai grounds were very safe and memorable places for them. So most of the 9 league matches for Pakistan team are likely to be played in Kolkata and Chennai. However, the final decision will be taken depending on the position of the Indian Cricket Board and the Central Government.
