Coalition tensions: MK will block March laws

by time news

In response to abusive remarks by his constituents, by representatives of Meretz and Labor, Knesset Committee Chairman Nir Orbach announces that he will not advance until further notice, laws that will be raised by Knesset members from those parties.

The discourse around “settler violence” is explosive: following the Knesset conference entitled “Settler Violence”, and following the tweet of the Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, this week, the chairman of the Knesset committee, MK Nir Orbach of the Yemina faction, announces a possible decision Shake the coalition.

MK Orbach informed the coalition’s chairman, MK Idit Silman, that in light of the inciting statements of coalition members, mainly from the Meretz Party and Labor, he will not promote legislation by those in the Knesset committee.

“I follow with concern inciting messages from members of the coalition aimed at tarnishing and harming the dear settler community while terrorism spreads throughout Judea and Samaria. Subsequent statements are used by foreign and Palestinian bodies to defame the State of Israel and harm its national interest,” Auerbach wrote to his party.

“In light of this,” Auerbach wrote, “as chairman of the Knesset committee, I would like to inform you that from now on, any bill that arises from these Knesset members will not be promoted by the Knesset committee. “As long as members of the coalition harm me and the public I represent, I do not intend to support any initiative or legislation on their part.”
