Four people killed in firing at Bathinda military station ⋆ Dawat News

New Delhi, April 12: Four people were killed in a firing incident at Punjab’s Bathanda military station on Wednesday morning.

According to the army, the incident took place around 4.35 am.

“Station quick reaction teams have been activated and the area has been cordoned off and sealed. Search operations are currently underway,” the army said.

Punjab Additional Director General of Police SPS Parmar told PTI that the incident was not a terrorist attack. He said that this is not an outside attack. “It’s an internal event.”

According to a report in The Hindu, the four officers who were killed were sleeping when the firing took place near the barracks. Bathinda Superintendent of Police Ajay Gandhi said the youths have been identified as Sagar Banne (25), Kamlesh R (24), Yogesh Kumar J (24) and Santosh M Nagral (25).

After this incident, the doors of the military station have been closed.

According to ANI, the Indian Army said there were no reports of injuries to personnel or damage to property.

“The area is being sealed off and a joint investigation with the Punjab Police is being coordinated to ascertain the facts of the matter,” the army said. All aspects are being investigated including the possible case of involvement of an INSAS rifle as well as 28 rounds which were reported missing two days ago.”

The army said that the families of those killed in the firing are being informed. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also been informed about the incident.
