The Commission for the Defense of Human Rights, Citizenship, Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District created this Tuesday (11) a subcommittee to deal with the prevention of violent attacks on schools. Parliamentarians will also hold public hearings with experts.

Districts still need to define who will make up the subcommittee and the group’s work plan.

The measures take place after the attack on a private day care center in Blumenau (SC) last Wednesday (5). A 25-year-old man armed with a hatchet jumped the wall of the private school and killed four children aged between 5 and 7 years.

According to the districts, the goal is to prevent attacks like this from happening in the DF.

The parliamentarians are scheduled for a public hearing on the subject. The request is from Deputy Joaquim Roriz Neto (PL). In the document, the district highlights the series of attacks on schools in Brazil in the first four months of 2023.

“We have news of several incidents such as the massacre in Blumenau, the murder of a teacher at a school in São Paulo, racism in schools in Ceilândia, as well as countless other reported cases”, he highlighted.
