It’s been a month since Siri Hustvedt announced the illness of her husband, the American writer Paul Auster. “My husband was diagnosed with cancer in December,” she wrote on Instagram on March 11, in a post that read like a love letter.
Exactly one month later, Siri Hustvedt, also a writer, posted a new photo of her husband: the great author appears in his Brooklyn, with sunglasses and a hat, sketching a shy smile. He started chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The shot dates back to Sunday and is by Spencer Ostrander, photographer, Hustvedt’s son-in-law.
“First of all, thank you all for the kind messages,” Hustvedt begins.
