As I recall, I never wrote about complaints harassment cases that had not come to court. It’s not shame, it’s function. I make political commentary and what interests me in it are the difficult and interesting questions that movements like #MeToo raise. I wrote a lot about this, exposing my hopes and fears. Hope in an emancipatory movement that will have structural effects in the oldest of oppressive relationships. Fears, because of the risk it poses to fundamental achievements, such as the right to a fair trial, defense and the presumption of innocence. “The victim is always right” is an argument that has never won me over because it cannot win over anyone who believes in the rule of law. Victim status is not prior.
