The new iPhone update knows if you sent / received nude photos

Another notable change, which Apple presents as positive but publicly highly controversial to the extent that has caused Apple to rethink, is the ability of the company’s messaging app, iMessage, to detect nude photos. This feature is able to automatically blur such images when they reach the user, prevent him from sending such images and report it to the supervising user. The stated purpose is to protect children from exposure to inappropriate content. Apple also originally planned to notify authorities of images identified by this algorithm, but harsh public criticism has caused it to suspend this part, at least for now.
