Just when we thought things would get better for Xbox fans… BOOM! pass this. The Arkane Austin studio announced that Redfall, Microsoft’s next big exclusive, You can only reach 30 frames-per-second on Xbox Series X / S consoles during its launch window. A patch to raise the frames to 60fps will come “later.”
In technical terms, the game will be released with only one graphical mode, that of Quality (or Resolution), ignoring the usual Performance mode that allows high refresh rates. This Quality mode will allow resolutions of until 1440p en Xbox Series S y 4K en Xbox Series Xbut both will be capped at 30 frames-per-second.
Redfall is launching on Xbox consoles with Quality mode only:
Xbox Series X: 4K 30 FPS
Xbox Series S: 1440p 30 FPS
60 FPS Performance mode will be added via game update at a later date. pic.twitter.com/NLaGsMbwdW— Redfall (@playRedfall) April 12, 2023
This is yet another tiger stripe for Redfall, because in addition to several delays, the decision to make it a game with a mandatory Internet connection was also questioned, even in its single player modes; something that the study is looking to reverse before its departure.
Redfall is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC on May 2, 2023.
