Although he came in first place by a significant margin, it is not clear whether the former member of the French parliament Meir Habib, a friend of Prime Minister Netanyahu, will succeed in being re-elected. A candidate of President Macron is running against him and it is not clear how the supporters of the extreme left who on the one hand oppose the ruling party, but on the other hand oppose Habib due to his support for Israel, will vote

On Sunday from 08:00 to 18:00, French citizens registered at the consulate in Israel will be able to vote for their representative in the French Parliament.

In the first round held two weeks ago, 8 contestants competed. Outgoing MP Meir Habib took first place with 38.35% of the votes. Deborah Avisror from Macron’s party will face him in the second round on Sunday, who received 24.67% of the votes. In Israel, the gap in favor of Habib was much more significant in the first round: 79% of voters in Israel voted for Meir Habib and only 10% for Avisror. In Netanya Habib received 91% of the votes, in Ashdod 87%, in Jerusalem 80% and in Tel Aviv 56%.

However, the victory is not guaranteed for Habib because it is not clear how the voters of the extreme left who on the one hand oppose the ruling party but also oppose Habib due to his support for Israel will vote.
