American actor Jamie Foxx was hospitalized due to a “medical complication”, but he is on the mend, his family announced, without going into details. According to CNN, the 55-year-old comedian is under observation at a medical facility in the state of Georgia.

“My dad, Jamie Foxx, had a medical complication yesterday,” his daughter Corinne Foxx posted on Instagram on Wednesday. “Fortunately, thanks to quick action and quality care, he is already on the road to recovery. The medical emergency took place outside of the filming of ‘Back in Action,’ a new Netflix film starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, according to CNN.

His family at his bedside

According to the people site TMZ, the actor’s condition was deemed serious enough for his family, some of whom were not there, to go to the hospital. But “he is communicating now, and that’s good news,” an anonymous source told this specialized media.

During his career, Jamie Foxx notably won an Oscar in 2004 for his stunning incarnation of singer Ray Charles, legend of soul, in the biopic “Ray”. He was also nominated for an Oscar for his role in “Collateral” the same year, and more recently made an impression by playing a slave to conquer his freedom, in Quentin Tarantino’s western “Django Unchained”.
