The President of the Republic and the Prime Minister review the PIAEPAL program

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba, exchanged today with a delegation led by the Prime Minister, Head of Government Mr. Alain Claude Bilie-By-Nze.

The rehabilitation of urban roads and the Greater Libreville water pipeline program were the main topics discussed during this working session between the President of the Republic and his hosts. To this end, the Prime Minister gave the Head of State a progress report on the progress of work relating to the Integrated Program for Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation in Libreville (PIAEPAL).

Launched in 2021 by the government and supported by the African Development Bank, this program costing 77 billion CFA francs includes the renewal of 149 km of the drinking water distribution network in Greater Libreville, and the strengthening and the extension of the drinking water distribution network over 131 km.

The objective of Piaepal is to contribute to the increase of drinking water supply and sanitation infrastructure with a view to improving the living conditions of the populations throughout the national territory, as desired by the President of the Republic.

Thus, for this first phase of PIAEPAL’s work, more than 300,000 households have been impacted through a better water supply.
