According to the firm Carbon4 Finance, French banks have an average footprint of 481 tonnes of CO2 per million euros injected into the economy. “In France particularly, the four behemoths (BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, Société Générale and one of BPCE’s investment banks) use French savings in fossil fuels”, insists Lucie Pinson, director of the NGO Reclaim Finance, which is relaunching its campaign #JeChangeDeBanque to demand that major players stop supporting climate-killing projects.
