INTERVIEW – On January 27, 2023, Dr Umlil, pharmacist and pharmacovigilance specialist, was dismissed from his position as pharmacist at Cholet hospital. A brutal dismissal for the person concerned who, on the strength of his expertise, was heard in 2022 by the OPECST (Parliamentary Office for the Evaluation of Scientific and Technological Choices) in the context of the evaluation of Covid-19 vaccines, under the presidency of the mathematician Cédric Villani. Dr. Umlil demonstrated unparalleled service, his work having been praised by many administrative bodies.
Dr. Umlil and his lawyer, Me Thomas Benages, appealed against this revocation. The interim suspension hearing was held on April 7, 2023 in Nantes. On April 14, 2023, Me Benages informed that “the interim decision has fallen, the court did not grant the right to Dr. Umlil’s appeal to suspend the revocation decision on the grounds that the immediate reinstatement of Dr. Umlil would pose a risk for the proper functioning of the public hospital service. »
It is a surprising decision, which Maître Thomas Benages commented on in this debriefing. Dr. Umlil is already considering appealing to the Council of State.
