Asus today unveiled the ROG Phone 7 series, the company’s gaming phones for 2023. They offer upgraded current specifications, an improved cooling system, software improvements and many accessories that make the gaming experience on the Asus phone different from that of the competitors.
As expected, the hardware has been updated to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with a maximum frequency of 3.2 GHz alongside a maximum working memory of 16 GB. What should differentiate it from the competition is the improved cooling system known as Matrix Liquid Cooling System 7.0 which incorporates graphite layers, and will allow you to take the performance to the limit.
The 6.8-inch screen has an AMOLED panel and remains in FHD+ resolution, but this year it can reach a maximum brightness of 1,500 nits and a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz. Beyond that, it comes with an extremely high touch sampling rate of 720 Hz that ensures low latency and a response speed of 23 milliseconds “the lowest and leading in the industry” according to the company.
ROG Phone 7 is equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery. which is actually divided into two cells, and should be enough for more than a day of intensive use, alongside support for fast charging with a power of up to 65 watts but without wireless charging. The gaming experience includes a pair of front speakers, and there is a 3.5 mm audio output for connecting headphones, support for Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC.
Asus wants the device to be not only a gaming device that competes at the top, but also for everyday use, so the phone has integrated a triple camera setup with a main camera based on IMX766 made by Sony with a resolution of 50 megapixels alongside two cameras with a resolution of 13 megapixels, one with a lens Extra wide and added for close-up shots. In front is the selfie camera with a resolution of 32 megapixels.
The ROG Phone 7 is endowed with a ‘gamer’ design with various decorations next to colored lighting and the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate model also has a small display screen when it comes in two colors: black with red decorations or white with light blue decorations with the manufacturing year combining a matte and glossy finish unique. This year’s device is also more durable with IP54 resistance against splashes of water and dust.
The price of ROG Phone 7 starts at 649 dollars for the 8/256 GB version, while in Israel it will start at NIS 4,499 for the 12/256 GB version. It will be launched in Israel towards the end of May and the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate model will arrive towards the end of June.
Upgraded cooling system
All models will be able to connect the AeroActive Cooler 7. An accessory that connects to the back of the phone and is equipped with a fan and subwoofer, but also adds 2 control buttons and 2 taps for improved control. The AeroActove Cooler 7 maintains the temperature of the device using the fan, but the Ultimate model is also equipped with a special opening that opens when connected and allows air to cool and dissipate the heat of the internal components.
