Protection of farmers’ interest in trade deal with EU: Piyush Goyal assured

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has assured that India will fully protect the interests of farmers and the dairy sector in the free trade agreement signed with the European Union.

Minister Piyush Goyal, who is on an official visit to Italy and France, arrived in Rome on Friday to participate in discussions with leaders and the private sector to discuss ways to further strengthen trade and investment ties between India and European countries.

In the discussion program held there, he said: Italy and France are providing the necessary cooperation for the first phase of the negotiation of the free trade agreement to be signed with the European Union.

In various meetings held in these two countries, India emphasized on the different economic conditions and per capita income of the two regions. But, no other country can offer the same opportunities as India to European companies. Taking all these into consideration, a seamless contract will be concluded.

The interest of farmers and dairy industry will be fully protected in the agreement signed with the European Union like UAE and Australia. He said that India will never compromise on its interests.

Apple expanding in India: In response to a question raised about Apple’s plans to set up a full manufacturing plant in India, Apple’s operations in India are continuing to expand. We are in constant contact with Apple in the voice department, electronics and technology department. Last year alone, Apple exported goods worth $5 billion from India. Apple is planning to do 25 percent of its total production in India within the next 4-5 years, said Minister Piyush Goyal.

It is noteworthy that Apple’s first direct store in India will be launched on the 18th in Mumbai.
