Good Friday is sadness and humility – Agro Plovdiv

by time news

Today is Good Friday – the saddest and hardest day of the son of God. The people say that the Good Friday a chicken does not sing, and a nest does not howl. Every breath suffers. No one takes up any work on Friday.

Friday morning before the start of the service, the “tomb” of Christ, decorated with flowers, is erected in the middle of the churches, and the Shroud is placed on the throne – the cloth with which the body of Christ was wrapped after it was taken down from the cross. It is a piece of cloth on which is embroidered the image of the position of the Savior in the tomb. The Gospel, the Cross and many flowers are placed on the shroud.

Christians come to the temple and bring flowers as one goes to the funeral of a near and dear person. Then they bend down and pass under the elevated place.

“In this way, we express our adoration, humility and sorrow before the tomb of the Lord, but also gratitude for the redemption that the Savior gave us. Then we bow again in front of the raised big Cross, the image of St. Theotokos and St. John the Theologian and kiss them,” writes Pravoslavieto.com.
