DECRYPTION – Two buyers, Intersport and the British Frasers, are in the running to take over most of the stores.

It’s been a tough midlife crisis for Go Sport. Forty-five years after its creation in Sassenage near Grenoble, the sign thus named in reference to the Olympic Games which took place in the city in 1968, should in all likelihood disappear.

The employees, however, would almost welcome it. Because if the brand is on borrowed time, this is not the case for the stores and the jobs associated with them. In receivership since January 19, Go Sport whets the appetite of its competitors, eager to absorb the small brand and its 5% market share.

Intersport, number two in sports distribution in France, has filed a takeover offer. This is also the case of the British Frasers, whose presence in France is limited for the moment to seven stores under the Sports Direct brand. Both will defend their offers on Tuesday afternoon before the Grenoble commercial court.
