Melbourne: World number four Carolina Pliskova has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. Pliskova, a Czech Republic star, will miss next month’s Australian Open.
29-year-old Pliskova suffered a wrist injury. Former world number one Pliskova has yet to win a Grand Slam title. She lost in the semi-finals to champion Naomi Osaka at the 2019 Australian Open. Despite reaching the Wimbledon finals this year, she lost to Ashley Barty and settled for second place. Pliskova also played in the final of the 2016 US Open. He lost to Angelique Kerber that day.
In addition to Pliskova, legends Serena Williams and Roger Federer have also withdrawn from the Australian Open. The Australian Open starts on January 17
