Suzuki is presenting to the press today its new V-Strom 800 DE in Spainan ambitious model that offers more features and equipment than its predecessor, the V-Strom 650, and that is not far from Hamamatsu’s great maxi-trail, the V-Strom 1050, a motorcycle that has also received some expensive updates. to this 2023 and which is now offered in two trim levels: TECH and DE.
Located between the entry-level V-Strom 650 and the top-of-the-range V-Strom 1050 TECH and DE, the Suzuki V-Strom 800 is aimed at those riders with an adventurous spirit who seek all the benefits of the V-Strom philosophy, but with essential comfort and manageability in their daily trips around the city and its surroundings.
Although its DNA is unquestionable at first glance, its more versatile and practical orientation for day to day is evident both on the outside and in its mechanical part. Not surprisingly, the main novelty is found in its new 776 cc parallel twin enginewhich yields 83 hp at 8,500 rpm, with a maximum torque of 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm.
This block, the same one that we also find in the naked GSX-8S, is associated with a new frame with more suspension travel and ground clearance than any other V-Strom, 21-inch (front) and 17-inch (rear) wheels, and many specific elements of this model, such as a wide and tapered aluminum handlebar, to ensure the best riding position in urban traffic or on any weekend getaway.
The technology of the new Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE also guarantees optimal response in and out of town, with Suzuki traction control systemthe Gravel (G) mode, the disconnectable rear ABS, the TFT color screen or the already characteristic LED headlight with angular shapes, as a hallmark of the latest generation V-Strom.
The V-Strom 800 DE range lands in Spain at a confirmed price of 11.799 euros, which means paying 2,000 euros more than if we opted for the V-Strom 650XT (RRP €9,975). Thus, the V-Strom 800 DE is close to the Aprilia Tuareg (€11,999) in terms of price, and above direct rivals such as the Honda XL750 Transalp (€10,900) and the Yamaha Tenere 700 (€10,999). .

In the case of the V-Strom 1050 range, 2023 arrives with new colors and versions; both the DE and TECH variants are powered by a 107PS 1037cc V-twin engine, which now features sodium-filled hollow exhaust valves to improve combustion chamber cooling.
With greater control over driver response thanks to a harder feel and Suzuki’s ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle Control System and the Bidirectional Quick Shift System (disconnectable, for more direct and smooth management of the 6-speed gearbox without the need to use the left lever), the new model optimizes its behavior like never before. And all, working in tandem with an updated double-spar aluminum-alloy chassis.
Although the two V-Strom 1050 share mechanics, chassis, electronics and the new 5-inch color TFT LCD instrumentation, the brand’s 2023 catalog offers the TECH and DE variants to better adapt to the requirements of each client. Thus, the new Suzuki V-Strom 1050 TECH adds to all the mentioned equipment 19-inch (front) and 17-inch (rear) forged aluminum wheels and a large height-adjustable screen, to reach, beyond its renewed and attractive aesthetics, new horizons with an unquestionable improvement in terms of resistance, capacity, agility and control.
