The Ministry of Commerce carried out 452 inspection tours of outlets selling car tires in various regions of the Kingdom to verify the establishments’ compliance with the approved standard specifications and verify their commercial data, including the date of manufacture, validity and energy efficiency card, in cooperation with the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, and the Saudi Center for energy efficiency.
The results of the field tours resulted in the seizure of 127,000 pieces of violating car tires bearing future manufacturing dates that were stored in warehouses in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
Commerce summoned suppliers, owners of establishments, and violating sales outlets to accountability and referral to the Public Prosecution and then the judiciary to complete the application of legal procedures in accordance with the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law.
