Spanish cinema continues adding films in this edition of the Cannes festival. Pedro Almodóvar and Víctor Erice are now joined by Elena Martín, the young director who will present her second film, Creature, within the framework of the Directors’ Fortnight. It was in this parallel section where last year it was possible to see Water, the first film by Elena López Riera. For his second work he has written the script together with Clara Roquet, director and winner of the Goya for Freedom. Martín also stars in this story along with Oriol Pla, Clara Segura and Álex Brendemuhl and produced by María Zamora, Stefan Schmitz and Tono Folguera, the same trio that alcarrás. The synopsis tells the story of a young couple who move to a town on the Costa Brava. “After a first discussion Mila begins to notice that the loss of her desire comes from a deep and distant place but her own. Alone in her family’s summer home, Mila relives some of her experiences from her childhood and adolescence; Memories of her that will help her understand the origin of her blockage so that she can be able to reconcile with her own body and have a more honest relationship with those she loves the most.
The Fortnight will also present this year several films by established directors such as Michel Gondry or Hong Sang Soo, in addition to trying to discover new talents.
