End of a long soap opera. Madagascar airlines has just obtained its Air Transport Certificate (CTA) and its operating license from the Civil Aviation of Madagascar (ACM). Through a press release, the company announces that Madagascar Airlines will now operate as a national company in its own right. Madagascar Airlines is thus the new structure which takes over the activities of Air Madagascar and its local subsidiary Tsaradia.

« Madagascar Airlines now fulfills all the conditions required to be able to freely operate and ensure all Malagasy air links “, proudly specified the company in its press release. To obtain this certificate, the company announces that it had to undergo the various mandatory phases, in terms of regulations, safety and security. Thanks to these certifications of international recognition, it will serve the eight main national airports of the big island in addition to the regional and European lines already acquired and plans to go to reconquer the Asian market.

As a reminder, Madagascar Airlines was born from the merger between Air Madagascar and Tsaradia. Air Madagascar was mired in chaotic financial management and placed in receivership, the company’s board of directors decided to start from scratch by creating a new entity, Madagascar Airlines. Madagascar Airlines was thus created in November 2021, following the declaration of cessation of payment by Air Madagascar. Since then, Madagascar Airlines has operated the assets of Air Madagascar and Tsaradia under a lease-management contract.

The former Minister of Transport, Rolland Ranjatoelina, replaced since last February, strongly rejected Madagascar Airlines, speaking of a financial arrangement which would only serve the personal interests of certain administrators of the former national company. A standoff has thus opposed for months, Rolland Ranjatoelina and Rinah Rakotomanga, president of the board of directors of Air Madagascar. The departure of Rolland Ranjatoelina and the appointment of the new director general of the ACM, Colonel Gervais Damasy seem in any case to have accelerated the decisions for the take-off of Madagascar Airlines.
