The new film about the story told in the book series Left behind will premiere in theaters in Brazil on April 27th, and the release of the feature film is promoting teasers with excerpts from the film’s story.
Left Behind – The Rise of Antichrist there is a script that tries to approach the content of books that gave rise to the saga and sold more than 60 million copies.
Actor Kevin Sorbo, known as the protagonist of the series Hercules and in the Christian milieu for his performance in the first film God is not deadwill play Rayford Steele, who in 2014 was lived by Nicolas Cage in a film that had little to do with the books.
“I have always enjoyed books Left behind. There was no way that anything else was going to get in the way of my wanting to be a part of it,” said Sorbo during the film’s production.
At the time, the actor said that the chance to direct and act in the role of pilot Ray Steele were opportunities that he could not pass up: “I love films like this. I love movies that have hope and redemption and laughter and love and things that we need more than ever in this world – in this crazy, divisive world we live in. And we hope that a film like this will have a positive impact on people around the world. […] that reaches more people than any faith-based film has ever reached in human history,” he added.
According to him, the film will have a more “gritty” tone in conveying the message of the books: “I think it’s a grittier feel. The world is a totally different place now. It seems that the rapture is now coming to Sodom and Gomorrah in which we live.”
