Difficult to attract in the public service. Despite often advantageous schedules and conditions, the towns of Sartrouville, Maisons-Laffitte, Montesson and Chatou, like others, are struggling to recruit staff. To the point of uniting to gain visibility with potential candidates, as during the last employment forum organized at the beginning of the week at the Saint-Paul de Sartrouville space.

Among the great classics of communities, there are advertisements for guards, road workers, technical, reception, mechanical maintenance, maintenance, lifeguard, animators for children or for conviviality with the CCAS…

But the range is more and more diversified. Thus, some town halls may start to need a lawyer, a draftsman (who draws up plans) or even a sanitation technician. The bulk of the gaps are in early childhood and technical service trades. In total, there are 250 professions in the territorial public service. In Sartrouville alone, around forty positions are open!

Forums, also a way to raise awareness

Opportunities for Hervé, 52, a worker in the private sector for thirty years: “I’ve been in construction since I was twenty, but I’m starting to get tired. I want to see what the public service could bring me. It is also this type of reflection that the town of Sartrouville wants to encourage. For Lina Lim, assistant in charge of human resources in particular, there is “a lack of information on the public service in general”.

An image problem, too. “I never went to the public service because I didn’t think I could take up a position without a diploma”, breathes a 37-year-old woman, unemployed for 6 months. “When we say public service, we can immediately think of civil servant”, admits the deputy mayor. However, not all agents are… “The positions are open to everyone. »

This is why there could be other dedicated forums in the coming months, such as the one organized with local employment actors. “More than a means of recruitment, the employment forum is also a means of raising awareness and informing workers about the public service”, assures Sylvie Collin, the director of the Pôle emploi agency in Sartrouville. “It’s up to us to find the candidates, continues Lina Lim. To show them what there are as open positions, as possible careers within public structures. »
