Pinta PArC, Peru Contemporary Art, returns to celebrate its tenth anniversary

Pinta PArC, the most important contemporary art fair in Peru, positioned as one of the most relevant cultural exchange platforms in the region, celebrates 10 years since it was first held in Lima. This important event will open its doors from April 19 to 23, 2023 at Casa Prado (av. 28 de julio 878. Miraflores, Lima, Peru) to offer a program experimental, ambitious and with a careful selection of galleries.

In this new edition, more than 200 national and international artists will participate, as well as cultural institutions such as the Museum of Art of Lima-MALI, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima (MAC), the ICPNA-Miraflores Institute and galleries such as 80m2 (Peru). , GBG Arts (Venezuela), LGM (Colombia), Mas Arte (Ecuador), Now Gallery (Peru), Ponce+Robles (Spain), Revólver (Peru/Argentina), Sammer Gallery (USA), Subsuelo (Argentina), Klaus Steinmetz (Costa Rica), among others. In this way, Pinta PArC seeks to demonstrate the richness of the world’s artistic ecosystem.

In the main section 45 galleries from around the world will participate, which were selected for the quality of their artists and the novelty of the projects presented. In this way, the fair continues to reinforce the objective of promoting and showing the quality of artistic production in Latin America. In addition, there will be an auditorium FORUM, Curated by the Peruvian Miguel A. López, it is proposed as an international platform for meeting and debate on the changing dynamics of artistic production, art history, research, museums and collecting in Latin America in recent decades.

Space will also be available Solo Duo Projectcurated by Florencia Battiti, which will feature artists who, from the indefinite poetic space of contemporary art, revise the paradigm of modernity, attending to its lights and shadows, throwing questions at its resonant echoes, still today.

On the other hand, the section NEXT, It will be under the curatorship of Florencia Portocarrero, where it brings together six galleries that are committed to making visible the work of young and emerging artists. NEXT seeks to function as a window, for the public of the fair, to the various Latin American cities in which the gallery projects are registered; such as Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Lima, Cuzco, La Paz and Vitacura.

In addition, the general curator of Pinta Art, Irene Gelfman, presents the section video-project, project that seeks innovative, immersive proposals that work with the moving image. This time the theme revolves around the post-human, the environment and the relationship between humans and nature.

Under the curatorship of Max Hernández-Calvo, for the first time there will be a Garden of sculptures, which will be located in the front garden of Casa Prado. The project brings together the work of a group of artists who reflect on the relationships between open space, nature, landscape and architecture, as a response to the same spatial characteristics of the section.

Led by Gredna Landolt, a specialist in contemporary art from the Amazon, presents What the eyes do not seeproposal dedicated to the amazon that addresses the multiverse inhabited by beings that protect nature, guardian spirits that protect it from being depredated by men. These spirits cannot be seen with the naked eye, but they manifest in different ways, interacting with people to maintain the balance necessary for life. The artists participating in the space are: Chonon Bensho, Lastenia Canayo, David Díaz, Dimas Paredes, Gerardo Petsaín, Brus Rubio Churay, Roldán Pinedo (Shoyan Shëca), Frank Soria, Elena Valera (Bahuan Jisbë), Santiago and Rember Yahuarcani. The Awajún potters Dina and Eufemia Mujat, Julia Daichap, Luzmila Ajikui, Rosa Chimpa and Julia Apikai. The exhibition includes large-format pieces by renowned Shipibo potters.
