Ten years after Oziris – which has since become the park’s highest-rated attraction – and six years after Pégase Express, Parc Astérix gives us a preview of its latest novelty: “Toutatis”. A new thrilling attraction that required three years of work and cost no less than 26 million euros. A record expenditure for the park of Plailly, in the Oise.

In addition to a financial record, this is an attraction with three records, which the communication of the park boasts. Toutatis – in reference to the Gallic god – thus pulverizes the number of “airtime” in the world, that is to say the number of times one takes off from one’s seat, according to Guy Vassel, deputy general manager of the park. “There is also a European record because Toutatis has 7 magnetic launches. On a roller coaster like this, it’s the first time,” rejoices Guy Vassel. Not to mention the French speed record: the attraction reaches 110 km/h! We are thus approaching the mythical “Silver Star” of EuropaPark (Germany) which reaches 130 km/h.

Toutatis thus becomes the third attraction in Plailly Park to have the name of a god, after Zeus and Oziris. The attraction mingles with a decor of trees, menhirs and the course of another attraction: the Trace du Hourra. It is part of the “village of Toutatis” which includes the new family attraction “Chez Gyropholix”, a playground for children as well as new shops. Total cost of the operation: 36 million euros, the largest investment ever made for the theme park.

For this report, we tested the carousel twice [à l’avant du wagon et à l’arrière] to determine if a difference in sensation exists. To get the answer, watch our video at the top of this article.
