The bus owners have been on indefinite strike since August 8, but the minister has intervened and withdrawn

Thiruvananthapuram: Indefinite bus strike from the 21st of this month. The Joint Bus Owners’ Strike Committee said that the indefinite strike will be launched to protest against the non-fulfillment of the promise given by the government. A month after the talks with the government, no action was taken, the strike committee said.

The main demand of the bus owners is to raise the minimum fare for students to Rs 6 and to waive the vehicle tax on buses till the end of the Kovid period. The bus owners are of the view that they are not ready for any compromise without a decision on raising student fares.

The bus owners want a tax deduction or a subsidy on diesel if they want to give it to students for free. The bus owners have been on indefinite strike since August 8, but the minister has intervened and withdrawn. The promise was that the needs would be considered and resolved by the 18th.
