At Christmas, lockdown also falls for the unvaccinated

Over the Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve the lockdown also falls for the unvaccinated. Meetings are allowed up to a maximum of ten people without 2G proof. Above that, up to a maximum of 25 people, 2G then applies again, as Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) and Family Minister Susanne Raab (ÖVP) explained at a joint press conference on Friday. The Covid curfew in restaurants will also be lifted on New Year’s Eve.

In general, the following applies: The measures remain essentially unchanged; the lockdown for the unvaccinated is changed by ten days. For 24./25./26. However, there are exceptions for unvaccinated persons.

Mückstein said that the general lockdown had created a certain amount of leeway. Therefore, there could be some easing over the holidays. Nevertheless, one must “continue to exercise caution”, especially because of the omicron variant that is on the advance.
