Iga Świątek advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles game of the indoor WTA tennis tournament on clay in Stuttgart. The leader of the world ranking, which in the first round had the so-called “free fate”, in the second defeated Chinese Zheng Qinwen 6: 1, 6: 4. For Świątek, seeded with the “number one”, it was the first meeting after a several-week break caused by an injury.

In the quarter-finals, the Polish defending champion will face Karolína Plíšková. The Czech won on Thursday in the second round with the Croatian Donna Vekić 6:2, 6:7 (5-7), 7:6 (7-5).
