A research program endowed with 65 million euros over eight years will finance more than fifteen multidisciplinary projects around this third agricultural revolution, after mechanization and agrochemicals.

How can agriculture evolve so that it becomes more virtuous and resilient in the face of climate change? Scientists have a lead: developing agroecology in conjunction with digital technology. Formalized a century ago as the cultivation of complementary plants on the same plot, the notion of agroecology has evolved and “covers sustainable agricultural practices that provide services to the environment”, recalls Claire Rogel-Gaillard, Deputy Scientific Director of Agriculture at INRAE ​​(National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment). Currently, only 5% to 10% of agricultural land is cultivated in agroecology in France.
