« Honte”, lack of “decency”… Since April 15, the German weekly The actual is in turmoil after putting on the cover of its 16th issue of 2023 “the first interview in the world” with former Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher since his serious skiing accident. And for good reason, it is obviously not so… In reality, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion, who cannot express himself or stand up, according to the rare revelations made by his wife Corinna on his state of health, n obviously never met a single journalist from the German tabloid. The newspaper was in fact based entirely on the answers… of an artificial intelligence.

If his family has not, for the moment, reacted publicly, they have made it known, through their spokesperson, their intention to file a complaint against the newspaper.

“My life has completely changed” since December 29, 2013, pretend to report the authors of the article, quoting the former star of the F1 circuits. Except that, in reality, all the answers were provided by an artificial intelligence, similar to ChatGPT. Although on the front page the tabloid suggests that the interview is fake – “It sounds deceptively real” – the accuracy is almost never indicated inside the weekly. Worse, the publication surfs on ambiguity: “the incredible interview”, “answers […] to the most burning questions that the whole world is asking”, etc.

No more appearances since December 2013

German observers and part of the public – and therefore fans of the former racing driver – continue to cry out their disgust following this publication. This publication may trigger an avalanche of questions and fears as artificial intelligence has been in the news for several months.

Since the tragedy, the relatives of the German legend have maintained almost total secrecy about his state of health. On December 29, 2013, he hit a rock while skiing off-piste with his son in the French Alps resort of Méribel. His wife, Corinna, had broken the silence in 2021 by evoking a “different” Michael Schumacher, in a documentary broadcast on Netflix. “’What is private is private’, as he always said”, declared in this documentary his wife. “Michael has always protected us and now we are protecting Michael.”
