JAKARTA – Thousands of Muslims Muhammadiyah carry out the id prayer at Wijaya Kesuma Field, Kemanggisan, Palmerah, West Jakarta on Friday (21/4/2023) morning. The congregation came from various areas in Jakarta.

One of them, Faqih (33), a resident of Petukangan, South Jakarta, deliberately left as early as possible so as not to miss the momentum of the Eid prayers. He came alone without family.

To journalists, Faqih admitted that he did not celebrate Eid with his wife. The reason, he said, was that his wife had different views regarding the determination of 1 Shawwal 1444 H.

“Incidentally, I came from a small Muhammadiyah cadre, so I joined PP Muhammadiyah’s determination for Eid today. Meanwhile, his wife joins the government,” Faqih told reporters, Friday (21/4/2023).

According to him, differences in views are common in his family. Thus, he considers it natural that Eid al-Fitr is not held together.

“Yes, it’s actually normal, because since the first time I married my wife, I often don’t have the same Eid, last year it was the same,” he concluded.

Monitoring at the location at around 07.40 WIB, thousands of worshipers were seen leaving the Wijaya Kesuma field. Happy smiles celebrating Eid seemed to radiate from the congregation.

One by one the congregation greeted their relatives before going home in their respective vehicles. The Committee for Islamic Holidays (PHBI) of the Al Muhajirin Mosque as the organizer of the Id Prayer thanked the congregation for holding this event.

The committee also asked the congregation to leave in an orderly manner and bring their own trash. Previously it was known, the Muhammadiyah Central leadership (PP) had determined that Eid al-Fitr 1 Shawwal 1444 H would fall on Friday, April 21, 2023.
