The accumulated lack of rainfall in Spain since the hydrological year began on October 1 until April 18 reaches 23 percent, since an average value of 337 liters per square meter has been collected, when the normal value for this period it would be 440 liters per square meter, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Thus, it points out that between April 12 and 18, rainfall affected the northern half of the Peninsula, north of the westernmost Canary Islands and to a lesser extent the Balearic archipelago. Specifically, they went from 10 liters per square meter in Galicia, along the Cantabrian coast and in the north of the island of Tenerife. In the western half of the Pyrenees and in areas of La Coruña and Pontevedra, rainfall reached 40 liters per square meter.

The AEMET highlights the accumulated rainfall in the main observatories of Fuenterrabía, with 55 liters per square meter; Vigo-Peinador and San Sebastián-Igueldo, 48 liters per square meter; Pontevedra, 42 liters per square meter; Bilbao Airport and Reus (Tarragona), 21 liters per square meter and 14 liters per square meter were collected in Santiago de Compostela-Labacolla.

By zones, the accumulated amounts of precipitation are below their normal values ​​in the entire Cantabrian strip except in Galicia, in a large part of the eastern half of the Peninsula together with the southern third as well as in the entire Canary archipelago except in the south of Tenerife. In those territories they do not even reach 75 percent above their normal value, that is to say that their rainfall deficit exceeds 25 percent.

They only exceed the normal value of rainfall for the reference period 1991-2020 in areas of the interior and western third of the Peninsula, except Andalusia, in the eastern half of the island of Majorca, on the island of Menorca and in the southern half of the Tenerife island.
