Schalke coach Thomas Reis has not given up hope that his injured goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann will return this season.
“At the moment you can assume that he will not be available to us for the next few weeks. Will that ultimately be until the end of the season? I’m not a psychic, not a doctor. It could happen, but we have hope that if he heals well, he can start again,” said Reis on Friday.
“Very good feeling”
In the upcoming games and also in the game at SC Freiburg this Sunday (3.30 p.m. / DAZN) Alexander Schwolow should replace the last strong ferryman. “We know what kind of performance he can show. We have complete confidence in him,” said Reis. “He gives me and the team a very good feeling.”
Fährmann injured his adductors in the 5-2 Bundesliga win against Hertha BSC last matchday. In the game at SCF Schalke are also missing the two defenders Cédric Brunner and Maya Yoshida, defensive midfielder Éder Balanta and offensive man Tim Skarke. (dpa)
