Andy and Lucas have twenty years of musical career. In each town for which they act, they have guaranteed success. They like to get on any stage, although there’s only one thing they wouldn’t do it for. «If they call us in the Gay Pride we go too. We make music. Another thing is that he calls me Bildu. If Bildu calls me, I won’t go, they are ETA members and they have killed people,” Lucas pointed out emphatically in an interview.

At the same time, Lucas has rejected labels on personal tastes, beliefs or sensitivities, ensuring that they are “nobody’s”. «If you go with the Catholics you are right or far right. If you go with the gays you are ultra-left. We don’t belong to anyone. We are our homeland. My flag is my son, “adds Lucas.

The duo from Cádiz was at the Basauri festivities last year. The concert of the Andalusians brought together thousands of people in the town, where the PNV governs.

“They are of love”

There have been numerous artists who have volunteered to collaborate on this compilation album on various well-known songs by the Cádiz duo such as Lérica, Abraham Mateo or Los Rebujitos, and, although they admit that they would have loved to have had a few more, on the album “they are those who had to be ».

«The album is a tribute to us, to our fans, to our trajectory. And those who have been… blessed glory for them, “says Andy, who is excited about the work done.

According to Lucas, when writing the songs “you think of the people” but he in particular also takes into account his partner and friend Andy because of the different tones in which they sing. “I think about his part and that’s where I try to put the most beautiful lyrics,” says the singer, using ‘Pido la palabra’ as an example, a song dedicated to the young Sevillian Marta del Castillo who disappeared on January 24, 2009 at 17 years.

«The most complicated thing, more than the tone, is that he dances with me», says Lucas proudly and flattering Andy in his ability to adapt to improvisations on stage without prior rehearsal.

With total emphaticity, the Cádiz-born duo assures that the best song they have created is ‘Son de amores’, although they also fondly remember ‘Tanto la quiería’, both from their first album ‘Andy & Lucas’ (2003) and are shown surprised that some of the artists who collaborate on the album chose songs that they did not think of.

“Songs came out that I didn’t think they wanted. I have not told them ‘to sing these’, I have let them”, says Lucas.

relativize problems

Since 2003 Andy and Lucas have not separated or stopped composing songs, although they do admit that they have had “ups and downs” more on the personal than professional side, although they consider themselves “very lucky” people, Andy points out.

For his part, Lucas explains that over time he has learned to relativize “problems.” Of course, he assures that he did suffer “real sorrows” a long time ago. “Today, if I have a bit of a downturn, it’s because I haven’t rested well or because I hit it one weekend and, since we’re 40 years old, the hangover lasts five days,” he explains with a laugh.

Despite the events, concerts, promotions and personal life, Lucas assures that he also tries to catch up with what is happening in the world and likes “a lot” to read the news and listen to the radio. “My life is the radio,” he recounts.

Having said this, and without wanting to give away more information so that it “comes true”, the artists say that they are excited about future projects in Latin America that will soon see the light of day.
