Back at Tricolor after five years, Dorival Júnior was presented this Friday (21) as the new coach of São Paulo and gave a press conference at CT da Barra Funda.
Before revealing expectations in this return to the São Paulo team, the coach received a welcome from President Julio Casares.
“A very happy day. We know Dorival well, who has a lot of character. I also cannot fail to praise Rogério Ceni, who is dedicated, did a great job and left us a great legacy. In 2021, Crespo was state champion. Ceni reached the Paulistão and Sul-Americana finals. I need no introduction to Dorival for its quality and professionalism. Dorival is a coach that the world knows, Brazil knows”, he said.
Afterwards, the coach chatted with the press. “I’m coming to São Paulo with the objective of being champion. I come to a giant club. I came here to try to win. I will give my maximum effort and commission for the best results”, said the commander.
Current champion of CONMEBOL Libertadores and Copa do Brasil, Dorival Júnior managed Flamengo last season and meets São Paulo again: he led the São Paulo team between 2017 and 2018. In this second spell, the coach signed a contract until December 31, 2024 .
“The minimum we have to deliver is our best. If we are in three competitions, we have to think at least about winning one. You cannot enter with the minimum”, he added.
The coach’s debut for São Paulo will be this Saturday (22), at 6:30 pm, in Morumbi, against América-MG for the second round of the 2023 Brazilian Championship.
