During the last hours a debate has been generated within the medical community. All part of a small modification to the General Health Law that could generate great consequences. Among those who oppose this bill is the doctor Noé Reyes, who affirmed that the proposal baptized as Ley Chucky it only seeks to favor an association that has ties to former President Felipe Calderón. He also said that it will generate a monopoly that will affect thousands of specialists in the country.
He also accused the existence of possible acts of corruption by the Ministry of Health. He added that by allowing this initiative to advance, the National Regulatory Committee of Medical Specialty Councils (CONACEM) is strengthened. It is a private body that to date generates disgust among health professionals.
What is CONACEM?
It was founded in 2011 and since then it has been the body in charge of evaluating the capacities of specialists. In theory, it is a positive aspect because it requires doctors to update themselves periodically to properly care for patients.
