The National Company of tobacco and matches of Mali (SONATAM) proceeded, last Friday, to the delivery of a large batch of materials to the community school of the Sans fil district, Père Time. These materials, worth 2 million FCFA, are made up of furniture, tables, benches, swings, etc.

The handover ceremony took place in the presence of Thierno Hady KANTÉ and Mamoudou HAIDARA from SONATAM; the head of the Sans-fil district, Souleymane COULIBALY; the Deputy Mayor of Sans Fil, DIARRA Fatoumata SISSOKO; the Bozola DCAP, Sékou MARÉ; from the director of the community school Father Time, Salick DIARRA, from the teaching staff …
In his words of welcome, the district manager of Sans Fil, Souleymane COULIBALY, lamented that the Père Time community school had been in a dilapidated state since the departure of the partners in 2012 because of the crisis. According to him, with the withdrawal of the partners, this school works somehow with the derisory contributions of the parents of students.
The customary chief indicated that the director of the school approached the management of SONTAM who responded favorably to his heartfelt cry.
“SONATAM has always been by our side and we will be grateful to this civic society. In 2013, SONATAM renovated this same school at more than 26 million FCFA”, recalled Souleymane COULIBALY.
Mrs. Deputy Mayor of the Wireless district, DIARRA Fatoumata SISSOKO, affirmed that the endowment of the Père Time school with materials was the testimony of SONATAM’s attachment to the development of this district and our country.
She welcomed SONATAM’s willingness to invest in the education of young people, while calling on beneficiaries to make optimal use of materials.
The director of the Bozola Educational Animation Center (DCAP), Sékou MARÉ, said he was moved by this gesture from SONATAM. He called the gesture noble, arguing that investing in the school was the best investment one could make.
Mr. MARÉ revealed that the schools under his CAP had serious material problems. He indicated that classrooms were closed for lack of bench tables.
“The materials received are like diamonds to me. I thank the generous donor and I ask him for other support of this kind”, pleaded the DCAP of Bozola.
In turn, the head of SONATAM, Thierno Hady KANTÉ, will say that this gesture follows an urgent request from the school management to allow children to work in the best conditions.
According to him, this support is made up of furniture, tables, benches and swings worth more than 2 million FCFA.
”The gesture is symbolic, but its impact is immeasurable. This is the second time that SONATAM has provided assistance to this school. The first time was in 2013 when the school was almost in tatters. SONATAM intervened to redo the school”, recalled Thierno Hady KANTÉ.
