Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi continues his “slow but progressive improvement” at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan, where he has been hospitalized since April 5 because of pneumonia and myelomonocytic leukemia.

“President Silvio Berlusconi’s clinical condition seems to be improving slowly but steadily”, reports the latest and brief medical bulletin, released on Friday (21) by the hospital and signed by doctors Alberto Zangrillo and Fabio Ciceri, responsible for the sectors of resuscitation and hematology, respectively.

The two specialists explain that they are continuing “the treatment and monitoring of the function of the organs” of Berlusconi, 86 years old, who last Sunday left intensive care after 12 days and was transferred to the ward.

The improvement of the leader of Forza Italia (FI) allowed him to call his “number two” yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and vice-president of the government, Antonio Tajani: “I was about to enter the Vatican and I received a call from Berlusconi, I heard him with a strong voice”.

“I told him we are organizing a big FI rally in Milan on the 5th of May and I hope this is the time when he can be seen and heard. He is getting better, looking forward to getting back but he had better look after himself. first”, declared Tajani in an interview.

The conservative leader has been in the hospital for 17 days due to pneumonia and myelomonocytic leukemia diagnosed “some time ago” and for which he is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

The former president receives daily visits from one or another of his five children, his brother Paolo, who is optimistic about his recovery, and is always accompanied by his wife, congresswoman Marta Fascina, 53 years younger than him.

From the hospital, Berlusconi also called his party leaders and government allies: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Vice President Matteo Salvini.

He spoke with the latter again on Wednesday, when they discussed Milan’s progress in the Champions League, Salvini’s team and of which Berlusconi was president and owner until 2017.

Berlusconi, who has had several hospitalizations and operations throughout his life and particularly in recent years, had already been admitted to the San Raffaele at the end of March to undergo what were described as “medical tests”.
