At the end of the fast, I went to an old age home in South Paikpara of the capital Dhaka. To know how much the joy of Eid can affect their lives with the loneliness of the last age. I am a feeble-minded man, yet I cannot bear the pain of the helplessness of old age, not so much. Our centuries-old family ties are being broken by the lure of capitalist advertising. Joint families are disappearing with time. With them, grandparents-grandparents-uncles-aunts-fathers-mothers-brothers-sisters are parting with Eid joy.
