The boos and concerts of saucepans do not seem to discourage Emmanuel Macron. The Minister Delegate for Industry, Roland Lescure, said this Sunday on France 3 that if the president did not hold “big debates”, as during the yellow vests crisis, he would embark on “small debates” in regions to “project ourselves into the future”.

To get out of the challenge of the pension reform which remains strong a week after the promulgation of the law, the head of state “will have small debates”, like his recent trips to the Bas-Rhin or in the Hérault, where he attempted a few walkabouts despite boos.

“He interacts with people”

“He is on the ground, he exchanges with people”, underlined Roland Lescure, noting that “once the pans go out, there are people (…) who are ready to exchange with him”. “I think he will continue to do so both to convince but (…) above all to project us into the future”, he argued, while several trips by ministers have been disrupted in recent days by demonstrations.

According to Roland Lescure, “two extremely important subjects” have “emerged” from this crisis: “difficulty” at work and “institutions”. “We had planned to treat them afterwards” but they “came back to us as an absolute emergency”, he observed. Asked about the future of Elisabeth Borne at Matignon, the Minister Delegate for Industry praised the “great job” and the “exceptional work” of the head of government.

“She is one of the ministers who has the strongest performance of the first five-year term: she reformed the SNCF, she got the climate energy law passed, she obviously made a 1 youth 1 solution which means that today we have hundreds of thousands of young people who have a job, we must not forget that. She is an exceptional minister,” he insisted.
