The presidential spokesperson, Gabriela Cerruti, affirmed today that there are still no Frente de Todos candidates for the next elections and that “all scenarios are open” after the decision of President Alberto Fernández not to seek his re-election. In this line, she assured: “We can go to a STEP or have a unit candidate, but not from a single sector unit.”

In an interview given to Futurock radio, Cerruti also took the opportunity to deny a phrase that was published in various media where she allegedly stated that “Alberto got off even though he had a concrete chance of winning.” In this context, she clarified: “I said that it is not that it comes from nothing, it comes from a constitutional right and in such a broken and volatile scenario where no one is the last Coca Cola in the desert.”

For the spokeswoman, “we are in a similar scenario in 2019 where it is not known who the candidate will be.” And she clarified that despite the resignation of the Head of State “today there is no candidate for La Rosada.”

Asked about a possible candidacy for Cristina Kirchner, Cerruti was blunt: “She herself said that she is not going to run. It seems strange to me that someone with that conviction would change their mind. She is surely thinking of a strategy and will make it known ”.

However, he admitted that the Vice President “is an important candidate, her word is important and there are many militants who ask for it.”

On the other hand, he also referred to the rise of the free dollar that was recorded last week and maintained that it was “a market blow.”

When trying to explain the reasons, he repeated what the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, said in various media. “It is a question that has to do very much within the market. We read very strong trades. Yesterday, a stock company apologized for launching an unfounded rumor. That is not minor, ”he pointed out about the firm Max Capital SA that spread among its clients that on Monday there could be a 50 percent devaluation of the peso. Once the commotion had passed and the rumors dismissed, the company sent a letter addressed to Massa, apologizing.

“An important company telling its people that there is going to be a devaluation and they run after the blue dollar… that in another time was called a market coup,” he insisted on what happened this week, where the currency touched 442 pesos in the informal market.

In addition, he mentioned, among other reasons, the trip that former opposition officials will make to the United States in the coming days. “They are going to the IMF to say that they do not have to settle with the government but with them after December,” Cerruti was outraged, who stressed that “the real economy data has nothing to do with what is happening in the market financial” and gave as an example “the rise in consumption in March, which was higher than the previous month”.

“It is not the image of a country in crisis,” insisted the official and gave as an example that the show of the singer Trueno, in Tecnópolis this Saturday, brought 20 thousand people; and that Corrientes street this weekend was full of people with restaurants and theaters full.

“We cannot not talk about inflation right now. We see that the situation is rare. Last night there were 20 thousand people singing with Trueno. Tecnopolis was blown up all day and today it will be again with the Young IT Fair”, he pointed out.

And he added: “I went to dinner downtown and to the theater, and you couldn’t walk on Corrientes Avenue. It is not the image of a country in crisis, which we see in the headlines on Mondays. But there is a problem, which is inflation, and it causes everything to be colored by that”.

In another section of the report, the spokesperson recalled that another of the reasons for the escalation of the blue had to do with the rumors that Antonio Aracre, who was head of Advisors to Alberto Fernández, would take over as the new Minister of Economy.

“On Tuesday at noon they say that the rise in the blue dollar has to do with the fact that Aracre was going to go to the economy ministry and I begin to ask with reliable sources,” Cerruti recalled when trying to establish where that version had come from.

“A businessman told Pagni (a journalist from La Nación) that Aracre had had lunch with the president. I ask the president and he told me yes, that I brought him some ideas and he told him to discuss them with (Marco) Lavagna. He denied me that I had brought him an economic plan but that paper began to circulate among journalists, ”he explained.

She even admitted that Aracre “left angry” with her from the government because she believes that she is responsible for her dismissal. “You don’t go off the record with journalists dealing with economic issues. You can’t talk about the economy because you say any nonsense and your blue dollar goes up. I speak of economic policy but not of diagnoses of the economy, ”she concluded.
