“Plush” (plush, in English) left no fond memories for its investors. Almost a year after its launch, this animated film project, supposed to be released this winter, has come to a standstill. The 770 people who bought NFTs to finance it, last May and June, lost almost all of their stake, reveals Mediapart this Monday. The total damage amounts to approximately 1.5 million euros.

The concept is new: to create an animated film thanks to crowdfunding, in cryptocurrencies. To make this big-budget film, you have to find 60 million euros. The casting is prestigious: Gérard Darmon, Éric Judor, Audrey Lamy are on the bill. But also Gims, his brother Dadju and Camille Lellouche, who promote it on their networks.

Among them, the most active is Kev Adams. On May 14, 2022, the actor, supposed to lend his voice to one of the film’s teddy bears, organizes a live video on Instagram to present the project. He is in the company of “one of the representatives of Plush NFT”, disguised as a brown teddy bear. “These NFTs allow you to be a co-producer of the film, that is to say that it allows you to have a real share in the production of the film, boasts Kev Adams. The goal is also to make decisions with us. »

This participation must allow investors to be credited in the credits, to participate in the scenario and above all to “recover up to 80% of the world’s box office profits”, adds the mysterious representative.

“I paid 2,250 euros for a t-shirt”

He then promises enormous profitability: “Although there is nothing guaranteed, you will make on average 6 to 7 times what you put in in 24 months, which is still enormous. You go to a traditional bank and you make less than 1% in the year. »

In the live comments, Internet users are suspicious. Kev Adams defuses: “There is Dadou who says that we are going to ruin people, but no bro, we are going to ruin no one. “This is however the case, according to Mediapart: “Today, we can say that I paid 2,250 euros for a T-shirt”, testifies to our colleagues Wylem.

From the start, Kev Adams and the man in disguise were however clear on one point: the film can only see the light of day if the 50,000 NFTs are sold. Otherwise, investors will still retain ownership of a digital work of art, in this case an image of a teddy bear, paid for 1,250 euros.

“Fabi”, cryptocurrency investor banned from casino

Kev Adams and the man-teddy bear, who calls himself “Fabi”, deny any scam. But Plush’s social media accounts have been inactive since last September or even August. The project forum has been closed to comments. “Fabi” claims to have himself lost money in the failure of this sale, linked according to him to the collapse of cryptocurrencies.

Mediapart also reveals that “Fabi” is Fabien Tref, a cryptocurrency investor who would live in Dubai. It is also a friend of Kev Adams who would have financed, in July 2020, his birthday in a sumptuous villa which dominates the bay of Cannes. This “big player”, particularly in poker, would have attracted the attention of Tracfin by the extent of his cash bets, and was banned from the casino.

Will the film be released one day? According to Mediapart, this is unlikely: on the official website, it is no longer possible to buy NFT. The promotion around Plush has ceased for nine months. And the company Illuminart, which carries the project, did not renew its license, which expired in February. Contacted, Kev Adams’ press officer did not respond to our request.
