A bomb blast at a Pakistani counter-terrorism police station killed at least three people and caused the building to collapse on Monday (April 24th), police said. “Two bombs exploded” in the police station, “causing the death of at least three people” in Kabal, a town in the Swat valley (north-west), local police official Attaullah Khan told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Seventeen people were also injured. The identities of those killed are not yet known, but those taken to hospital include “many police officers”he added.

Several attacks against the police

“The explosions occurred in the police station and caused the building to collapse completely”, said a police officer. Searches for people have begun in the rubble, according to the emergency services. So far, the attack has not been claimed, but since the beginning of the year, the Pakistani Taliban have been linked to two attacks against important police stations.

On February 17, at least four people were killed in an attack by a Pakistani Taliban suicide squad against a major police complex in Karachi, the country’s largest city, and its economic and financial capital. On March 6, at least nine police officers were killed, and sixteen others were injured, in a suicide attack targeting the truck transporting them to southwestern Pakistan.
