The chief executive of the American media group, Jeff Shell, announced on Sunday his resignation with immediate effect after the revelation of a “inappropriate relationship” with one of his colleagues. This decision was taken from a ” agreement “ with Comcast, the company’s parent company.
An external investigation was opened following a complaint from an employee. “I had an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company, which I deeply regret,” acknowledged whoever took the reins of the group in January 2020. The brief statement did not specify who the woman was and did not include any other details regarding the investigation. The departure of Jeff Shell comes at a pivotal time for Comcast.
The group is due to publish its quarterly results on Thursday. Comcast Chairman Mike Cavanagh will lead NBCUniversal on an interim basis until a replacement is named.
