The Choral Society communicated yesterday to its members and its educational community that it has suffered a cyberattack, for which reason they recommend that they exercise extreme caution in the use of their emails.
The computer attack occurred on Friday night, with the same characteristics as the one that affected the ABAO. The Choral Society denounced the case to the Ertzaintza, which handles as a first hypothesis that the cyberattack of the two entities could have come from a security breach of the company that provides the support and the computer structure of the two associations, a service that includes the networks and backups.
“We are working to quantify the damages as well as to take the appropriate legal actions and resolve the problem in the best possible way. It is recommended to change the passwords of the students that are associated or may be linked to the @coraldebilbao.com domain,” said the Choral Society in a statement.
At the moment, according to entity sources, no incidents have been reported, a situation that it also shares with the ABAO.
The Bilbao Opera Association informed members on Saturday night that they had been victims of a computer attack and that they should be careful when opening other communications. They insisted that they not provide personal information if they were asked for it on behalf of the association.
“We have made the appropriate complaints and we are following the security protocols and the guidelines of the experts, although the threats have not materialized,” ABAO sources declared.
