Online or live at public meetings in tax centers this summer, taxpayers will be able to give their opinion on public spending. The government launches Tuesday, April 25 in the Hérault (Occitanie) a consultation entitled “Getting it for my taxes” intended to find out how taxpayers want this money to be spent by the State and to explain public spending.

“I travel a lot in the field and regularly French people tell me that they want to see exactly how and where our taxes are going”declared the Minister Delegate for Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, on RTL before leaving for the south of France with the Minister of Transformation and the Public Service, Stanislas Guerini. In particular, they will visit a public finance center and a France services house before attending a public meeting with a few dozen taxpayers, with the stated objective of “transparency”.

“I want the French, and in particular those who pay income tax, taxpayers, to be able to give their opinion on priority public policies, on public policies that they consider less of a priority, on examples of mismanagement that they identify and which could allow us to save money »added the minister, who affirms that the government wishes to draw inspiration from the result within the framework of the next state budget.

“What is public money used for”

The enavoirpourmesimpots.gouv.fr website will “at national and local level” to say “in a very concrete way what public money is used for”according to Mr. Attal, who presented this operation in mid-April.
