How is the preparation on the day for the donation?
Upon arriving at the blood bank, the donor completes the registration form and presents an original document with a photo. Then, the candidate is referred to pre-screening, where vital signs are measured, as well as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature and whether he has anemia.
Once approved, it moves on to the screening stage, in which nurses conduct an interview with a long questionnaire, which addresses all the necessary requirements.
Finally, the donor goes to the donation, where the puncture is made, lasting six minutes, and it is explained that a sample will be evaluated to verify the blood type and if there is any disease or infection. The total process, from opening a file to finalizing it, takes about 40 minutes.
